Some chess computer friends have asked me why Phoenix Chess Systems, in contrary to an earlier news item on the 6^th of September, has decided to continue the delivery in 2010 for the Revelation Boards.

In September 2009 it seemed that there was a big problem in getting the wooden boards in the right quality. At the time I had to write off 50% of the twelve boards that I had made, just because the small imperfections in the varnishing did not meet up with my high quality standards. Indeed I indicated that the Revelation Board would no longer be available, because at that time I had no options to increase the success level for the woodwork and the varnishing. The varnishing company who provided in the varnishing work told me, that there were big issues to get the varnishing right, and that they could not guarantee an improvement in this for the future. Therefore my first thought was that I could not continue in delivering the Revelation boards.

At this time it seems that these problems can be overcome, and therefore I have decided to open the possibility to order again for this beautiful board. Another supplier has given me the possibility to produce the woodwork in the desired quality varnishing level. And at this time I have around 4 customers who really have urged me to continue with these boards, and I myself find it very important for me to continue my work in this.

The news on the 6^th of September 2009 where I announced not to produce any more boards was at that time correct, but with this new possibility to continue the production I am very happy to continue the Revelation Board series. I regret the change of mind in this, but the fact that I can continue producing the Boards is a great step forward for Phoenix Chess Systems.
